Containers must always be safe and sound. The criteria in the following table indicate damage limits that must not be exceeded without repair. In general, some common rules apply.
1) The safety and
regulatory standards incorporated in the International Convention for Safe Containers
(CSC) must always be observed.
2) The container must be
water and light tight.
3) CSC (the international
convention for safe containers), TIR (transport of good under custom seal), TCT
(Australian plant quarantine), ISO (International Organization for
Standardization) standards must be observed if applicable to the container.
Inspection Criteria: We shall discuss of specific defects that should be checked for during an inspection. If a defect causes a component to exceed the appropriate limits given in this table, the defect must be repaired.
RAIL INSPECTION CRITERIA
Accompanying the tables are photographs of sample "acceptable" and "not acceptable" defects. The "not acceptable" defects must be repaired.
Flat bar top side rail
dented less than 30mm, repair not required.
Bottom side rail torn,
and weld broken, repair required.
Flange of bottom end rail
not torn, cracked, or cut and web undamaged; repair not required.
Front header deformed
more than 35 mm; repair required.
Since dent to bottom side rail is within 250mm of corner fitting, the weld to the fitting must be carefully examined and repaired if there is any evidence of break, cut, tear, crack or other damage.
